Job summary
We are offering an exciting 1 year secondment/fixed term opportunity to consolidate clinical and leadership skills working as a Senior Physiotherapist within the speciality of Acute Elderly Medicine .
In this fast paced, forward thinking environment, no two days are the same. You will have the opportunity to make a difference to a varied caseload of patients with complex needs. You will develop expertise in the discharge to assess model and strength based approach, planning for "home first".
You will be instrumental in influencing patient experience, length of stay, and flow through the hospital.
You will enhance your specialist skills, working with patients with Dementia, Falls, and Parkinson's Disease with scope to champion areas of interest.
You will also have the opportunity to refine a variety of core physiotherapy skills such as respiratory, neurology and orthopaedics. Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to think laterally are a must, to ensure holistic and patient centred quality care.
The team has strong links with the Specialist Medicine team, Discharge assessment Unit and community services such as SPARC and Intermediate care. This allows further opportunities to utilise and acquire new skills and knowledge from other specialist areas.
Learning and development is a priority within the team and you will be able to access yearly appraisals, teaching, involvement in service development projects alongside regular clinical and managerial supervision.
Main duties of the job
- Effective and timely discharge planning working within an MDT
- Supervise and support assistants and rotational staff.
- Supervise and educate students
- Maintain and develop strong communication links with community services
- Development of managerial skills, deputising for the B7 Therapists and Lead Band 6 Physiotherapist assisting in the day to day running of the team.
- Competencies in respiratory physiotherapy and actively participate in the respiratory on call service.
- We offer opportunities to shadow other services to ensure integrated working
