Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a full time Cardiology Clinical Research Fellow to the Department of Cardiology. The clinical duties of these posts will be based Trust wide incorporating the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital (NSECH), Wansbeck General Hospital (WGH), North Tyneside General Hospital (NTGH) and Hexham General Hospital (HGH).
The Clinical Research Fellow will receive both clinical training in cardiology and provide clinical support for a portfolio of clinical cardiovascular research.

Main duties of the job
This post is best suited to candidates who have completed Foundation Training. The role and responsibility's will be adjusted according to prior experience. The fellow will provide medical support within the Clinical Research Department (CRD) for high profile clinical trials. You will work within a supportive, multidisciplinary team of research nurses, Principle Investigators, clinical trial pharmacists and study co-ordinators. You will gain experience and training in all aspects of clinical research delivery, including: study set up, recruitment, consent, pharmacovigilance, investigations, research governance and follow-up of patients. You will receive the necessary training to enable you to deliver clinical research.
The post will allow us to improve our current inpatient and outpatient provision. The successful candidate/s will be given full training at SpR level in a broad spectrum of Cardiology, both on our acute Cardiology ward (including an 6 bedded CCU) and in outpatients.

Diagnostic angiography and a pacing suite that undertakes simple and complex implantable device procedures runs on the NSECH site.
