Job summary

A Job has become available on ward 2 at Hexham general Hospital.

The role is for a Nursing Assistant to help with the care delivery on the ward and maintaining the roles and responsibility in line with polices and procedures.

The role includes:

To assist the qualified nursing staff in the delivery of high quality patient care.

To provide assistance and support to patients, carers and the MDT.

To be responsible for own nursing care standards and to maintain high clinical standards.

To assist in ensuring a clean, safe and hygienic ward environment.

Going above and beyond for patients and working well in a team to meet the care needs to all.

Daily audits.

Observations and maintaining safety.

Undergoing fundamental training.

Great communication both face to face and over devices.

Main duties of the job

To work under the supervision of a qualified nurse and assist in the implementation of patient care.

Direct Patient Care including End of Life.

Record patient Observations.

Prepare the clinical area for procedures.

Perform bladder scans, ECG, maintain patients records on IT / Nerve Centre.

Personal care delivery.

Helping with rehabilitation goals.

Encouraging engagement and fluid and food promotion.

Accurate documentation.

Weekly checks with making sure equipment is safe before usage.

Safe Moving and handling.

working in both a team and alone.

Communication with all peers and patients.

  • Level 3 qualification in a healthcare related subject or a portfolio of equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Knowledge of care and related procedures, clinical observations, relevant legislation
  • Previous care experience in a health or social care setting

Desirable

  • Evidence of completed competencies aligned to the service area
  • Customer Care course
