Job summary

We are seeking applications from enthusiastic, capable, flexible scientists to become a Biomedical Scientist within our Haematology and Blood Transfusion department.

We are a vibrant and forward-looking service undergoing significant development with a centralised blood sciences laboratory at Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, Cramlington.

You will need to possess a relevant professional qualification to degree level or equivalent and HCPC registration.

Excellent technical, interpersonal, IT skills and a commitment to the development of your specialist knowledge is essential.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will practice as a specialist registered Biomedical Scientist in the Haematology / Blood Transfusion Department, working as part of a team in the provision of a high quality diagnostic service to Northumbria Healthcare NHS FoundationTrust and General Practitioners. They will also participate in the supervision, training and development of Trainee/Newly Qualified Biomedical Scientists and Medical Laboratory Assistants.

This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.
