Job summary
An exciting new opportunity has arose to join the Occupational Therapy Specialist Services Team for Stroke Services.
Excellent communication, assessment, decision making, advocacy and IT skills are desired. There will be an expectation to transport and deliver minor aids / equipment within the community. The post holder will need to be able to meet the transport requirements of the post.
The successful candidate will be a vital member of the Occupational Therapy team.

Main duties of the job
- Assist provision of Occupational Therapy assessment and rehabilitation interventions for inpatient stroke rehabilitation patients under direction from the OT and multidisciplinary team. This includes ward based rehabilitation and supporting discharge home.
- Support the assessment, ordering delivery and fitting of appropriate equipment as assessed by the therapists. This will include community working to deliver and fit equipment in patient homes.
- Carry out assessments and other tasks that have either a) been screened by an OT or b) where the work boundaries are clearly defined (excluding complex assessments) with direct and indirect supervision of a registered therapist. This may include screening for cognitive, visual and movement impairments using agreed tools (excluding complex assessments).
- Provide rehabilitation for personal care tasks, activities of daily living, upper limb rehabilitation, visual rehabilitation and cognitive rehabilitation. This may be completing one-to-one therapy or completing group work, following a recommended rehab plan.
- Undertake appropriate training specific to the client group.
- Assist qualified staff in administrative tasks including requisitioning resources, managing referrals and maintaining updated resources.
- Liaise and feedback to other members of the MDT, including high standard of written notes
- Review and reflect on own practice and performance through regular participation in supervision and appraisal.
