An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon to work within Northumbria Healthcare. This is a fixed-term contract based at North Tyneside to work across all sites across Northumberland and North Tyneside.

The department would benefit from the appointment of a Plastic Surgeon and the successful candidate will be encouraged to develop a special interest to complement the other members of the department but will be predominately involved in the skin cancer, orthoplastic's and breast reconstruction service at the Trust.

The appointment will join a group of 4 Consultant Plastic Surgeons alongside 2 Specialist Garde Doctors. The post will be based at North Tyneside General Hospital however the successful candidate will be expected to work Trust wide.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will join a team of 4 other Consultants and 2 Specialist Doctors to provide a Plastic and Reconstructive service for the Trust.

The post will be flexibly time-tabled to meet the demands of the service and the timing of sessions may change as the service develops.

The Job Plan will typically include an average of 8.5 Programmed Activities for Direct Clinical Care duties and 1.5 Programmed Activities for Supporting Professional Activities. A proposed job plan will be agreed on commencement of appointment.

This post is designed to augment the current Plastic Surgery Service and to this end they will be actively involved in the development of the skin cancer, ortho plastics and breast reconstruction service.

The successful candidate will also liaise with the Orthopaedic and General Surgery team in the Trust and perform combined cases as appropriate on the designated trauma or emergency lists.
