Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Community based Multiple Sclerosis Specialist Nurse Team to appoint a Band 6 Multiple SclerosisNurse. The base of the successful candidate will be determined on appointmentWorking across Northumberland the post holder will work with the Specialist Multiple Sclerosis Nurse and MS Nurses to deliver a comprehensivespecialist clinical service for people affected by Multiple Sclerosis (MS), with an emphasis on patient centred care and symptom managementThe post holder will be expected to promote integrated care, working across services and Trusts to ensure quality of service and adherence tolocal and national standards.The post holder will be able to demonstrate the ability to act autonomously, where necessary, within a small team with the appropriate level ofclinical supervision from the Specialist Nurse Team MangerThe post holder will be a First Level live NMC Registered Nurse with a professional degree or equivalent experience. They will have experience ofco-ordinating care for people with long term conditions and/or multiple sclerosis in a variety of settings.The post holder will be expected to attend a week long residential Development Module in Clinical MS and to attend further training as required.Participation in the education and teaching of people affected by MS and Health and Social Care Professionals will be expected.

Main duties of the job

  • To support the provision of a specialist nurse resource for individuals with Multiple Sclerosis, their relatives & carers, members of thegeneral public, health professionals and statutory & voluntary bodies.
  • Promotion of integrated care, ensuring quality of service and adherence to local and national standards.
  • Ability to act autonomously within a small team with the appropriate level of clinical supervision from the specialist nurse team lead.
