Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a Deputy ward manager who will assume responsibility for the devolved management of the ward working with the ward manager and 2 duties.
To be responsible for a case load of patients and supervise the ward staff caring for up to 26 medical patients.
To have direct patient contact, patient assessment, rehabilitation and working with the multi disciplinary team.
Ward 2 is a general medical ward, the majority of patient's are frail elderly with complex needs and discharge planning.

Main duties of the job
To assume responsibility for the devolved management of a ward including assessment of care needs, the implementation of evidence based practice in the absence of the ward manager.
To supervise, support and educate junior members of staff including students.
To provide senior nurse site management cover.

- First level live NMC Registered Nurse or Registered Mental Nurse.
- PP126/127 or AC631 or D32/33 or A1 or equivalent.
- Mentorship Qualification or relevant equivalent qualification (essential requirement for post, expectation this will be completed within an 18 month period).
Desirable
- Leadership course
- Management course
- Diploma or degree in nursing
- Qualification in specialty
Experience and Knowledge
Essential
- Previous post registration experience.
- Experience of relevant speciality.
