Job summary
The Hyper Acute Stroke Unit (HASU) consists of 11 in-patient beds, providing high quality care for patients presenting with symptoms of stroke. We provide evidence based multi-disciplinary level 2 care including thrombolysis.
Patients are cared for using a Multidisciplinary approach with 7 days Physiotherapy, Occupational therapy and Speech and Language Therapy.
Patients maybe transferred to a regional tertiary centre if appropriate or may continue their journey at Recovery Stroke Unit.
Main duties of the job
We have a vacancy for a Band 6 Deputy Ward Manager to assist in leading and developing a fabulous team and invite suitable applicants to apply.
We are for looking for an individual who is a dynamic, highly motivated and a passionate nurse, committed to high quality patient care. The post holder must have a flexible approach, have experience in supporting the delivery of high standards of nursing care for patients within the acute medical pathway, and will be able to demonstrate excellent clinical leadership and communication skills across the multi-disciplinary team.

- To supervise, support and educate junior members of the team.
- To provide senior nurse site management cover.
- To exercise accountability as set out in the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
- To be responsibility for all nursing care standards and to maintain high clinical standards.
- To act as team leader and co-ordinate the multi-disciplinary care of a group of patients.
- To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.
