Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Fundraising Officer to join the Bright Northumbria Healthcare Charity Team.

This is an exciting development role where the successful candidate will be supported to complete a number of specialist fundraising competencies, over a period of 18 months, which will enable them to progress from the band 5 Fundraising Officer post to a band 6 Fundraising Officer post. Please note if the candidate was unsuccessful with completing their competencies within the 18 month period they would remain at the band 5 level for this role.

Main duties of the job

  • Supports the trust charity in all areas of work
  • Supports the Fundraising Manager
  • Co-ordinates fundraising activities in the trust

  • Co-ordinates charity projects and events

Job description

Job responsibilities

Primary contact for the charity fundraising team, answering queries and responding appropriately on behalf of the charity.

Work closely with the Fundraising manager to deliver the Fundraising Strategy, Fundraising Policy, and Charity objectives

Maintain and further develop relationships with existing fundraising networks, funders and voluntary organisations.

Develop fundraising management systems to support the fundraising policy

Develop and maintain a database or CRM system in relation to management of fundraising initiatives

Encourage and support engagement with the charity.

Evaluate the success and effectiveness of fundraising events and improve the success of future events as a result through the undertaking of evaluation.

Administration of financial donations and gifts in kind, e.g. processing payment, recording activities/income, sending thank you letters, running reports.

Update/report to the Bright Charity Strategic Committee with regard to fundraising.

Planning and organising a range of charity events, e.g. cheque presentations, fundraising events, Christmas corporate events.

Promote the work of the charity through various media e.g. the staff magazine, staff update, website, social media, charity information boards, marketing materials.

Work with Charity Communications Officer to develop content for the charity website and social media.

With the support of the Fundraising Manager, negotiates with a range of stakeholders including the estates and capital projects teams and clinical teams to incorporate the fundraising in a variety of clinical and non-clinical areas.

On occasion, deputises for the Fundraising Manager, in relation to projects and the charity fundraising

Desirable

  • Institute of Fundraising qualification
  • Fundraising experience
  • Specialist Knowledge of fundraising methods, in keeping with the Fundraising Code of Conduct, and including relevant legislation gained through in-depth practical management. This knowledge cannot be gained through theoretical/academic routes so "on the job" practical experience is essential, and is comparable to degree or acquired knowledge at this level.
