Job summary

This band 5 position offers an exciting opportunity to work on Ward 10 and coronary care at the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital.

We currently have a fulltime vacancy in adult nursing. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work between both clinical areas.

Ward 10 is a Cardiology unit which incorporates 6 Coronary Care beds. We manage a range of heart conditions which includes acute coronary syndrome and acute/chronic heart failure, as well as various tachy and brady arrhythmias some of which may require pacemakers or implantable cardioverter defibrillators . Whilst working in the coronary care unit you will have the opportunity to look after level 2 patients, this requires monitoring and treatment of clinically unstable patients.

This role also provides opportunity to rotate in to our lab to gain competencies in procedures such as elective and emergency pacemaker/implantable cardioverter defibrillator insertion and elective diagnostic angiography.

Main duties of the job

Ward 10 is an acute 30 bedded Cardiology admission ward incorporating 6 Coronary Care beds. We aim to provide excellent acute care to a wide range of patients. We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic nurses to join our team.

Experience in this area would be beneficial, however support and training to develop knowledge and skills will be provided. Commitment to the development of your knowledge and skills to degree level and to the provision of high standards of personalised care is essential. Evidence of contemporary knowledge and recognised post registration continuous professional development qualifications would be an advantage.
