Job summary
The Community Services Business Unit in Northumbria Healthcare NHS Trust delivers a wide range of health services to meet the needs of local people. As part of the continued service development programme we have recently built the capacity to offer new openings to support the Sexual Health Services across Northumberland and North Tyneside. One such role is the Sexual Health Specialty Doctor.
The successful candidate will have post registration qualifications or experience in sexual health and be expected to undertake total patient management including the fitting of long acting contraceptives, performance of vasectomy clinics (with appropriate training if required) and be involved in audit and training of other practitioners and students. The post holder will cover all sites within Northumberland and North Tyneside, including our base sites in Blyth and Shiremoor, and our Outreach venues across the region.
Good organisational and time management skills are essential, along with excellent interpersonal skills and positive teamworking to effectively work collegiately to support the continual evolution of the clinical team.

Main duties of the job
To work as a Specialty Doctor in the Integrated Sexual Health Service in Northumberland and North Tyneside.
To undertake patient management, assessment, screening and diagnosis, implementing treatment of all STI's and contraception methods including LARCs.
To perform regular clinical audits.
To perform vasectomy clinics following appropriate training if required.
To utilise an electronic patient record system .

To deliver Genitourinary Medicine, HIV outpatient and Contraception services for Northumbria Healthcare Sexual Health Service in keeping with competencies and experience.
Health Promotion and screening in relation to Sexual health care, cervical cytology, pregnancy testing, options, STI and HIV screening.
Diagnose STI's using microscopy and requesting relevant investigations via electronic pathology link.
Informing patient of positive results and implement treatment plan and care management.
Ensure accurate electronic patient record.
To provide specialist advice as required on contraceptive and sexual health matters to GPs and other medical and non-medical staff, internally and externally.
