Job summary

The Staff Psychology and Counselling Team has a strong reputation within in the trust for delivering high quality support to the staff that work in the organisation.

We are looking for a highly skilled communicator who is able to work flexibly and collaboratively with Health Psychology Team for Obs & Gynae. This is an excellent opportunity to build psychological skills and expertise in the area of workplace mental health and wellbeing. You will be part of a Clinical Health Psychology Team

Main duties of the job

The post will be professionally managed by the Consultant Clinical Psychologist in Clinical Health Psychology - Obs &Gynae and there will be supervision and support available from the wider team. There will also be opportunities for peer networking and professional development in the Clinical Health Psychology team at Northumbria Healthcare trust.

Job responsibilities

  • To provide a high quality and effective clinical health psychology service in a designated specialist area(s).This includes:
  • Ensuring the systematic provision of a highly specialist clinical service within the designated specialist area(s).
  • Providing teaching and training to other healthcare professionals as appropriate.
  • Providing supervision and support to assistant clinical psychologists when appropriate.
  • Working autonomously within professional guidelines and exercising responsibility for the systematic governance of their own clinical health psychology practice.
  • Utilising research skills for audit and project work.
  • Proposing and implementing policy changes within the specialist area(s) the post holder inputs into and within CHP as a whole.
  • Must be prepared to travel to multiple hospital and community based sites to deliver interventions to patients.
  • To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Doctoral Level Training in Clinical Psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS.
  • Eligible (or soon to be eligible) for registration with the HPC as a Practitioner Psychologist
  • Registered Mentor

Desirable

  • Knowledge of or experience in coaching and mentoring practices and tools
  • Knowledge of or experience in Quality improvement tools, techniques and methods
