Job summary
We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced, dynamic and inspirational senior midwife to lead the Pregnancy Assessment Unit at Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital (NSECH). The unit is open 24/7 assessing and treating pregnant women who attend hospital with pregnancy related complications or concerns.
You will need to be able to demonstrate the requisite level of competencies at band 7 and provide evidence of on-going professional development. Further education is encouraged, including support to attend relevant courses to maintain personal and professional development to meet service needs. We offer comprehensive in-house training packages as well as having strong links with local Universities.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily management of the Pregnancy Assessment Unit, including;
- Providing leadership to the multidisciplinary team
- Planning and implementation of flexible staff rosters and annual leave
- Maintenance of adequate staff levels and skill mix
- Environmental assessments
- Encourage and support innovative practice and multidisciplinary teamwork
- Lead in development of clinical audit and guidelines
- Lead in incident investigation and care reviews
- Development of staff
- Monitoring of staff wellbeing at work
- Budget management
