Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon to work within Northumbria Healthcare. This is a permanent contract based at North Tyneside to work across all sites across Northumberland and North Tyneside.
There is an attractive relocation package to support the successful applicant, in line with the Trust Relocation Policy.
The successful candidate will be working with the other microvascular reconstructive colleagues with a specialist interest in the limb reconstruction, hand surgery and providing reconstructive support to colorectal surgeons. There will also be some involved in the provision of skin cancer services. The post holder will need to be able to work flexibly to address the priorities of the service and provide a balance to meet RTT and cancer performance targets with the benefit of having a predictable schedule.
The successful candidate is expected to further enhance microsurgical reconstructive service for the Orthopaedic and General Surgery Departments. The Trust provides services to a population of 500,000. A multi-disciplinary team approach to plastic surgery provision is being actively developed throughout the Trust. Main duties of the job
The post-holder will join a team of 6 other Consultants and provide a Plastic and Reconstructive service for the Trust. They will be predominantly involved in the reconstruction and microvascular service. The post-holder will also be expected to assist in the skin and general plastic surgery services.
