Job summary
To work autonomously following Trust and national guidelines to provide specialist nursing with a defined case load for patients having elective surgery under General Anaesthetic, including taking history, physical examination, ordering investigations and interpreting results, make assessment of care needs and develop and assess programmers and standards of care. Working with all members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure safe and appropriate care. Provides specialist education and training to other members of the team.
Main duties of the job
o Work closely with secretaries and contact center to ensure patients are processed in a timely manner.o Provides and receives highly complex, sensitive or contentious information where there are significant barriers to acceptance which need to be overcome using developed interpersonal and communication skills which would be required when communicating in a potentially hostileor highly emotional atmosphere.o Act as an information and teaching resource for nurses, medical students, nursing students and patients.o Maintain important links with the anesthetists and the wider multi-disciplinary team.o Act as a point of contact ensuring that patients have access to support, advice and guidance.around their care and treatment plan.o Writes up history and findings using current pre-assessment documentation.o Corresponds with surgeons, secretaries, GPs and the wider multi-disciplinary team to ensure safe and appropriate communication of information.o Must be able to demonstrate the English language proficiency level required for this post

- o 1 st level live NMC required registered nurse
- o Evidence of qualification to undertake the supervision, teaching and assessing of students (essential requirement for post, expectation this will be completed within an 18 month period).
- o PP126/127. D32/33 or equivalent
- o Extended scope of practice skills
- o IT skills
- o Previous experience as a staff nurse
