Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a band 7 community physiotherapist to work in Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful applicant will join our friendly team at Hexham General Hospital and provide ongoing rehabilitation within the community for patients discharged from within the Northumbria trust. The successful applicant will be required to be flexible in supporting the in-patient teams based at Hexham and our off site unit at Haltwhistle.

The successful applicant may be required to participate in the seven-day working and Bank Holiday rota for inpatient services.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will provide leadership and day to day organisation for the Physiotherapy in-patient community services . They will work alongside our in-patient community teams at Wansbeck and the Short term support services within the community.

The post holder will provide expert assessments, diagnosis and treatment of patients with a range of conditions, but will have extensive experience in care of the older person. Applicants must provide evidence of continuous professional development and post graduate training. Experience in supervision, education, leadership and training of more junior staff and students is essential. Experience of research and audit is advantageous.

We have strong links with the wider care of the older persons team and the successful applicant must demonstrate excellent communication skills with Multidisciplinary teams and peers. Links with the wider team will be maintained with the post holder integrating into the trust wide care of the older persons services.

The successful applicant will be supported by the care of the older persons Physiotherapy manager for Northumberland. The post holder will be expected to work collaboratively with the senior leadership team in future service development.

  • BSC Honours degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent
  • Member of the Health Professionals Council
  • Student training qualification

  • Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
  • Working towards Masters level or equivalent accredited courses within chosen speciality e.g. Action Research, McKenzie accredited practitioner, Injection Diploma, Continence Diploma, Accredited Respiratory Care Management.
  • Leadership training e.g. LEO/ILM
