Job summary
This is a excellent opportunity for a registered nurse to join the special school nursing team working in schools in Northumberland. The post holder will manage their own caseload and workload; providing skilled nursing support and health education to children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and training and advice to education staff. Clinical supervision and daily advice and support is available from the senior special school nurse, the team lead for the service and the children's community nursing team.
Main duties of the job
- To assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care for children/young people with a range of disabilities within a Special School.
- To provide skilled nursing support to enable children with complex health needs to access educational opportunities.
- To provide health education and promotion to enable children with complex health needs to promote physical, emotional and mental health.
- To offer training and support to education and social care staff specific to the needs of the individual children/young people.
