Job summary
Community Staff Nurses work in partnership with patients and carers in the community, providing health education and nursing care within their Scope of Professional Practice. The post-holder will be an integral member of the community nursing team working with colleagues to deliver clinical care to patients living in their own homes and residential care homes.
Although the post holder will be supported by the Team Lead/Deputy Team Lead, he/she is expected to work largely unsupervised following a period of induction. In addition, the post-holder is expected to supervise the work of others including nurse associates, nursing assistants and student nurses on placement.
The successful candidate will be based in Bedlington and be expected to work evenings and night duty.
Full time or Part time hours may be considered - Various hours available.
Main duties of the job
Community Staff Nurses are integral members of the district nursing team providing clinical care to patients with a broad range of acute and chronic health problems. The successful post-holder can expect to gain a broad range of clinical experience and expand their knowledge in end-of-life care, wound care, long-term conditions, life-limiting illnesses etc.
The community business unit offers a comprehensive induction course to support the transition of those who are newly qualified, or new to the community or the organisation. There are also opportunities to develop and progress within the community setting and all staff are provided with smartphones and laptops.
The post-holder will role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.
