Job summary

This job is only open to applicants currently registered with the GPhC as a pharmacy technician.
Main duties of the job
To provide support to the Chief Pharmacist, CDAO within the Trust, to ensure that the Trust complies with legislation, national/local policy and/or best practice and ensure that issues relating to controlled drugs are reported and investigated appropriately.
To work with a range of pharmacy and other healthcare staff to ensure the safe and successful delivery of the pharmacy service and medicines optimisation strategy.
To manage the governance audit programme.
To manage data collection for the purpose of demonstrating performance against key performance indicators for the pharmacy service and medication governance agendas
To analyse, interpret and present data (e.g., controlled drug assessments) either verbally, via written reports or formal presentations
To ensure complaints and compliments received by the pharmacy department are appropriately managed.
To ensure pharmacy department health and safety risk assessments are completed, reported and appropriate actions taken
To provide Pharmacy technical support and advice on pharmaceutical matters and those pertaining to medicines management when required.
To manage a small team of Pharmacy technical staff who deliver ward and Pharmacy department based duties.
To work as a practising Pharmacy technician, undertaking dispensary work and ward based clinical and technical duties.
To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust.

Qualifications
Essential
- BTEC in pharmaceutical science or NVQ Level 3 supported by appropriate underpinning knowledge e.g. BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences, NPA or equivalent qualification.
- Registerable as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- To have successfully completed an appropriate accredited technician checking qualification e.g. Regional Scheme, BTEC Dispensing Technicians Checking Technician Certificate
- Evidence of relevant continuing professional development
- IT skills to European Computer Driving License (ECDL) standard or equivalent experience
- Have relevant evidence of CPD demonstrating that their knowledge and training are current
Desirable
- To hold a qualification for Medicines Management for Pharmacy Technicians e.g. Derby University Clinical Pharmacy Technician Diploma or Regional Medicines Management
- oNVQ Level 3 or equivalent management qualification e.g. ISM and/or significant relevant management experience.
