Job summary

Ward 3 will be a newly established acute medical ward within the Medicine and Emergency Care Business Unit

The Unit consists of 30 in-patient beds. It will provide evidence based multi-disciplinary care with immediate and specialist management for the acute medical patient. This includes rapid diagnostic facilities, treatment and a multi-disciplinary approach including provision of comprehensive medical assessment.

Most patients are admitted through the Emergency Department. The aim of the Unit is to help patients on their journey to recover to the point that they can either be transferred for ongoing care, return to their own home or to further care in the community.

Main duties of the job

We have vacancies for a Band 6 nurse to assist in leading and developing a new team and invite suitable applicants to apply.

We are for looking for an individual who is a dynamic, highly motivated and passionate nurse, committed to high quality patient care. The post holder must have a flexible approach, have experience in supporting the delivery of high standards of nursing care for patients within the acute medical pathway, and will be able to demonstrate excellent clinical leadership and communication skills across the multi- disciplinary team.

To act as team leader and co-ordinate the multi-disciplinary care of a group of patients.

To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.
