Job summary

You will be responsible for leading the development team working on a range of clinical systems built upon modern technology stacks. You will have a strong background leading development teams within an agile setting and have the desire and enthusiasm to deliver but also innovate.

The development team are responsible for providing systems to frontline staff at the point of patient care. The team and supporting teams have expanded over the last year with a plan of continued recruitment and investment in the team to be a leader within the NHS.

Main duties of the job

  • You will be responsible of defining process that our dev team follows and ensuring the development team take responsibility to implement
  • Technically adept you will provide assistance/guidance to the dev team and define best practice in relation to code quality and standards
  • Working closely with Project Managers/Product Owners you will provide insight towards new development work via agreed changes, estimates and also innovative changes that come from within the development team
  • You will take responsiblity for resourcing the team correctly and reporting in to the Deputy Director of Development to expand and deliver on a strong Digital Vision
  • You can have the capacity to be actively involved with development work but not at the detriment of an efficiently functioning delivery team as you will be core to the teams success
  • You will be working on existing and green field solutions that use the latest technologies with a large variety of projects to get involved with
  • You will operate in a cloud first development environment and we would look to you to introduce new tools/approaches to improve development lifecycle.
  • Demonstrate excellent understanding of the Change Framework, promoting awareness of and adherence to the process within the team

This will include the management of Backend and Frontenddevelopers. You will have experience of working in a development environment and either experience of a similar role or being a senior developer/senior QA tester/product manager looking to move in to dev team leadership. Your primary focus is to provide leadership and line management to developers who are working on new projects and supporting existing services. You will work collaboratively to define common approaches to application development and integration and ensure development standards are documented and maintained by the team. Within your role, you will be developing the teams' adoption of agile ways of working alongside, Product Owners, Project Managers, and Business Analysts. You will be successful in supporting teams to adopt new tools and approaches to development and continue to change as theorganisation expands its portfolio of internally developed systems.
