Job summary
Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced and dynamic MRI Modality Lead (Band 8a) to provide professional, operational and strategic leadership for our MRI service.
This is a senior leadership role within Radiology, responsible for driving high-quality, safe and efficient MRI services across the Trust. The post holder will play a key role in shaping service delivery, workforce development, clinical governance and performance improvement, working closely with Radiologists, senior radiographers and operational colleagues.
An exciting element of this role is the opportunity to support the development and implementation of a new Cardiac MRI service, working in partnership with Radiologists, Cardiology and wider multidisciplinary teams. This will include service set-up, workforce development, governance and pathway design to support future diagnostic and clinical needs.

Main duties of the job
The MRI Modality Lead will:
- Provide professional and operational leadership for the MRI service, ensuring delivery of safe, effective and patient-centred care.
- Hold direct line management responsibility for senior MRI staff and professional leadership responsibility for the wider MRI workforce.
- Lead workforce planning, recruitment, development and succession planning within MRI.
- Be accountable for MRI clinical governance, quality, safety and compliance, including MR safety and relevant regulatory standards.
- Lead performance management for MRI, including demand and capacity, utilisation, waiting times and productivity.
- Act as the senior radiographic advisor for MRI, working collaboratively with Radiologists and multidisciplinary teams.
- Support the development and implementation of a new Cardiac MRI service, contributing to service design, workforce capability, governance arrangements and operational delivery.
- Contribute to service development, transformation and business planning, supporting the Trust's strategic objectives.
- Promote a positive culture focused on quality improvement, staff wellbeing and continuous learning.
