Job summary

Stores Technician has responsibility across both critical care units in Gloucestershire to ensure seamless supply, reliability and availability of stock and equipment to support life supporting care.

Working alongside the managed services co-ordinator and reportable to the ward manager and matron.

Main duties of the job

Main duties - Organise storage areas, distribution and rotation of stock across the departments, liaising with stores/procurement to ensure no break in supplies. Sourcing of cost saving but effective alternatives.

Ensuring equipment is kept serviced, available, clean, and in good working order.

You are required to be logical, methodical, reliable, friendly and approachable. A good team worker as well as self-motivated to work alone as needed.

About us

The team consists of mainly cross-site rotational staff, including the senior nursing staff and consultants. They are friendly, supportive and highly motivated to provide outstanding care as recognised by the Care Quality Commission CQC.

Job description

Job responsibilities

- To maintain levels, rotate and check expiry of consumables cross site both in store room and within the departments.

- To identify any problems/faults with general facilities/equipment and report to estates/medical engineering. Recording job numbers and ensuring resolution in timely manner.

- To ensure all equipment is in good working order, is clean and ready to use and all areas are stocked and tidy to support timely and efficient patient care and treatment.

- To ensure the department is safe, ready for use, and tidy at all times e.g. remove clutter, tidy notice boards, signage etc.

- To organise the transport of equipment and consumables across site when required.

- To maintain and update records of DCC stock/equipment location across whole service.

- To participate in stock/environmental audits. Action any issues in a SMART format and execute plan.

- To ensure that any P2P items on minimal stock are escalated to the DCC MSC or out of hours to the ward manager if required. There will be the opportunity to learn more about ordering to enable cover of MSC leave/absence.

- To collect, clean and test equipment as instructed. To keep equipment storage areas safe and in good order and report any damage to correct facility for repair/quote/condemning with discussion with MSC as required.

- To work closely with the trust stores staff and procurement.

- Re-equipping, cleaning and re-stocking of bed areas post discharge of patients

- Check, order and maintain PPE supplies daily.

- Receive, receipt and distribute goods to relevant areas. Query any discrepancies and resolve logistical issues to prevent delay in patient care/treatment.

- Demonstrate accurate and auditable record keeping.

- Escalate issues to MSC or ward manager as required.

- Process queries from members of multidisciplinary team, estates, and medical engineering collaboratively with MSC.
