Job summary
Patient Safety Alert / CAS Officer - Band 5 (15 hours per week)
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Patient Safety Alert / CAS Officer to support Trust-wide compliance with statutory National Patient Safety Alerts (NaPSAs) and MHRA Medical Device Alerts and Field Safety Notices.
Working within the Patient Safety Team, you will act as the central point of coordination for safety alerts, ensuring they are received, disseminated, tracked, evidenced, and closed in line with national and local requirements. You will work closely with divisional teams and key services such as Medical Engineering, Procurement and Pharmacy, providing assurance through accurate record-keeping, reporting, and escalation of risks where required.
This is a job share role and is ideal for someone with strong administrative and organisational skills, confidence in managing complex information, and the ability to work autonomously while engaging effectively with colleagues at all levels. Previous NHS, patient safety, or governance experience is desirable, but training and support will be provided.

Main duties of the job
Coordinate Trust-wide compliance with National Patient Safety Alerts (NaPSAs), MHRA Medical Device Alerts, and Field Safety Notices, ensuring timely dissemination, action, evidence collection, and closure.
Act as the central point of contact for safety alerts, working closely with divisional governance teams, Medical Engineering, Procurement, Pharmacy, and clinical services.
Maintain accurate alert registers and tracking systems, including the CAS portal and internal databases, ensuring data quality and completeness.
Monitor progress, escalate overdue or high-risk alerts, and produce exception and compliance reports for Trust and divisional governance committees.
Support audits and assurance processes relating to safety alert management and regulatory compliance.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures and internal safety notices to support consistent alert management.
Provide advice and support to staff on alert requirements and processes, promoting effective implementation and learning.
