Job summary
The Diagnostic pathway clinical nurse specialist role will be a unique role within our Endoscopy service. It has been developed to transform the care and experience of patient's referred for endoscopic investigations via the 2 week wait and routine pathway.
Main duties of the job
Post holder will be responsible for:
- Daily triage assessments of patients referred for lower GI endoscopic investigations.
- Provide expert nursing knowledge and expertise in the delivery of diagnostic pathways and services with a focus on lower GI suspected cancer.
- As a valued member of the lower GI multi-disciplinary team, you will help to ensure a seamless pathway of care for patients by bridging the gap between medical and surgical services and contribute to the optimal use of endoscopic resources.
- Assist the Trust in achieving compliance with the 28-day faster diagnosis standard and the subsequent 62-day target with a view to promoting earlier diagnosis of cancer and treatment.
- Ensure that appropriate investigations are arranged for the right individuals within appropriate timescales.
- Support delivery of the Capsule Sponge Service which will be carried out at the CDC.
