Job summary

Join our Dietetics Team at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital

Are you a newly qualified dietitian (or awaiting HCPC registration) seeking a supportive, progressive environment? Or an experienced clinician wanting to develop your skills in a forward-thinking department?

We're looking for a dietitian passionate about enteral feeding to join our friendly, collaborative team at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, with outreach into community outpatient settings.

Your role includes managing a core caseload of enterally fed patients, with opportunities to gain experience in Critical Care, Cancer Services, Gastroenterology, Diabetes, Renal, Paediatrics, Stroke and Neurology, and Parenteral Nutrition.

You'll work independently and within a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality, patient-centred care in clinical and community settings.

We offer a structured preceptorship for newly qualified staff, exposure to multiple specialties, strong university partnerships for teaching and research, access to the Trust's Quality Improvement Academy, and a supportive team focused on professional growth.

Whether starting out or seeking a new challenge, this is a great opportunity to grow your dietetic career.

Main duties of the job

We seek a passionate dietitian to join our Home Enteral Feeding Team (HEFT). In this role, you'll manage a varied caseload of adult and paediatric enterally fed patients across Gloucestershire in homes, care homes, schools, and respite centres.

You will work autonomously, supported by specialist dietitians and a mentor to develop your skills. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including neurology, learning disabilities, and palliative care. Extend your scope through practical tube competencies and use strong communication skills.

Opportunities include postgraduate study, research, audit, and a Preceptorship programme. Flexible and remote working options, plus wellbeing support, are offered.

Ideal for newly qualified dietitians seeking structured support and varied clinical experience or experienced clinicians wishing to specialise or broaden expertise in enteral feeding. Join a friendly team valuing clinical excellence, development, collaboration, and meaningful patient care.

Make a real difference to patients across Gloucestershire.

About us

We are a large, friendly department based on 2 sites; Cheltenham General Hospital (CGH) & Gloucestershire Royal Hospital (GRH). There is free bus travel between these sites for Trust staff.

The Department of Dietetics is a dynamic and forward-thinking department operating across both hospital sites, structured into three key portfolios. These include Nutrition and Dietetics, encompassing acute services, renal, oncology, nutrition support, education, and the adult diabetes service; the Home Enteral Feeding Service, providing comprehensive care for adult and paediatric patients requiring enteral feeding across the county; and the Specialist Weight Management Service, delivering a specialist Tier 3 weight management programme.

The Department has an ambitious and evolving vision, striving to become a recognised centre of excellence for dietetics both regionally and nationally. Staff are actively encouraged and supported to engage in service evaluation, research, innovation, and teaching, ensuring continuous development and the highest standards of patient care.
