Job summary

It is an exciting time in Radiopharmacy at Cheltenham General Hospital, as we have financial backing to be able to restructure and expand the Radiopharmacy team.

Working hours Monday to Friday 0730-1530 hours

The Radiopharmacy is part of the wider Nuclear Medicine team. This is an interesting and varied role providing support to the day-to-day operations of the Radiopharmacy, providing pharmaceuticals to Nuclear Medicine imaging departments.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join the team and support the existing staff within the Radiopharmacy and Nuclear Medicine Therapy.

The post holder will be required to work in an aseptic clean room with pharmaceutical isolators, following Standard Operating Procedures according to current Good Manufacturing Practices. The post holder will also be required to assist in the resetting of Iodine Treatment rooms.

Applications are welcomed from candidates with aPharmacy, or Nuclear Medicine background who possess good interpersonal and communication skills.

- Contributing to the Radiopharmacy Quality Assurance system to ensure the smooth running of the Radiopharmacy.

- The Post Holder will be required:

- To use a range of radiopharmacy equipment safely and carry out all activities in accordance with the unit's standard operating procedures.

- To comply with Ionising Radiation Regulation 2017 (IRR17), Quality assurance of Aseptic Preparation Services (QAAPS) and Environmental Permitting Regulation 2016 (EPR)

- To be designated a Radiation Classified Worker.

  • 5 GCSEs Grade 5 and above, including Grade 6 and above for Maths and English Language or equivalent

Desirable

  • NVQ level 3 Pharmaceutical Services or SMPO Apprenticeship
  • Pre and in-process checking (PIPC) qualification

Experience

  • Pharmacy or Aseptic working experience

Desirable

  • Working in a Radiation Controlled area

  • Manual dexterity for handling heavy syringe shields, lead pots etc behind a protective shield
