Chair for Resuscitation Committee and Clinical Lead for Resuscitation

Job summary

The purpose of the Chair is to lead the committee in providing assurance in regards to escalation and monitoring of all deteriorating patients within Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in line with the statutory and regulatory requirements. That GHNHSFT is compliant with national guidelines specific to Deteriorating patients and Resuscitation. In particular, NICE and Resus Council documentation.

Providing clinical leadership to Resuscitation requires a close working relationship with the Resuscitation Department and support to ensure the Trust is meeting the required standard in relation to resuscitation care of patients.

Main duties of the job

Some of the duties include:

Coordinate with the Co-Chair (non medical)

Chairing Deteriorating Patient Resuscitation meetings x4/year.

To support the implementation of the National and local resuscitation and deteriorating patient Agenda.

Ensure there is appropriate clinical and operational governance in place to deliver oversight of safe and effective management for detection, monitoring, and escalation of deteriorating patients as well as cardiac arrests.

To provide assurance in regards to the resuscitation provision across the Trust, including resuscitation/emergency care training, availability of emergency equipment and drugs.

To review and report on resuscitation, sepsis and deteriorating patient audits.

The assurance group for Trust-wide policies relating to resuscitation and the acutely deteriorating patient are maintained in-line with national guidelines and appropriately policed for compliance purposes.

Identify risks within the trust in relation to deteriorating patients and resuscitation. Communicate and these risks to the Quality and Safety group and Trust Board where appropriate. Coordinate with areas to provide strategies to effectively address these risks. Monitor these risks to ensure there is effective progress.
