Data Warehouse Architect, Band 7 (15 hours a week)

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our data team within the Business Intelligence Department, this role is to job-share for 2 days alongside our other Data Warehouse Architect.

The Data Team is responsible for providing information and data support to the Trusts Business Intelligence department. The team supports the provision of monitoring information for both operational use within the Trust and externally to the Department of Heath for national monitoring purposes. The team also supports the flow of data to support the Trusts financial services in the form of costing and billing datasets.

The post holder primarily has responsibility for developing and maintaining a high quality data warehouse which is used by the Business Intelligence department to provide information analysis and expertise in support of the Trusts external processes. In particular, this is used to provide information to SUS which secures the Trusts income through the National Tariff process.

The candidate will be responsible for developing, modifying and maintaining data processing scripts and ensuring system performance is at optimized levels by regular reviewing and performing regular tasks and troubleshooting.

We are a very friendly, expert team and can accommodate remote working (although some on-site presence is required at system go-lives and training/team building days)

Main duties of the job

- Responsible for helping the Data Warehouse Manager and Team Lead to design and implement the Data Warehouse

- Provide expert technical SQL support to develop, maintain and produce high quality, comprehensive and timely information databases.

- Responsible for the optimisation of regular processing and updating of the Trust Data Warehouse to meet internal and external deadlines.

- Interpret and highlight and areas of concern identified during database processing and undertake appropriate action as required.

- Responsible for implementing and adhering to the Data Warehouse test and change implementation strategy

- Responsible for vetting changes into the data warehouse to ensuring that they are optimised and meets data warehousing and NHS Data Dictionary standards

- Assist the Data Warehouse Manager with developing and maintaining near real-time, daily, weekly and monthly routines for producing and distributing key data sets, including SUS, billing and costing data and data supporting statutory returns.

- Ensure the ongoing availability and stability of the data warehouse, proactively monitoring for issues and providing timely support during outages, including participation in out-of-hours support as required.

- Responsible for the optimisation of regular processing and updating of the Trust Data Warehouse to meet internal and external deadlines.

- Ensure that the data is comprehensive, robust and accurate and that users are kept informed of changes and updates.

- Expert technical specialist knowledge of information systems, including in depth knowledge of NHS data definitions, clinical terminology and coding systems. This includes a thorough understanding of the current issues facing the NHS and the role of information in this context.

- Ability to identify problems and inconsistencies with complex data processing and produce workable solutions.
