Job summary
The Specialty Director role exists to lead on the cross-county strategic development and operational delivery of the specialty service or cluster of services as specified above. The post holder is responsible for leading the delivery of clinical services for Gynaecology and Gynae Oncology .
The Gynaecology Speciality Director provides Clinical leadership to the Gynaecology and Gynae Oncology specialities to oversee governance and ensure maximum efficiency and productivity of the service (all sites).
The post holder is responsible for:
Leading the specialities with theMatron and General Manager to deliver income targets within devolved budget/s for the service lines within their remit, including working with the General Manager on CIP plans. This does not involve direct line management.
Line managing the medical staff within the service line/specialty cluster. (Job Planning, Performance Management). It is expected that job planning will be done in discussion with the General Manager. Specifics to be agreed with the Chief of Service.
Main duties of the job
- Ensure development of clinical policies and protocols within Gynaecology and Gynae Oncology (all sites)
- Set and maintain a rolling audit / Quality Improvement / Clinical Safety programme for the services
- Oversee and support activities to achieve waiting times within agreed targets
- Oversee a regular management activity meeting that focuses on managing waits, demand and capacity and list utilisation. Delivered through quarterly performance data analysis and present the report to Divisional Board.
- Ensure capacity and demand is reviewed on a yearly basis.
- Strategic development of services for Gynaecology and Gynae Oncology working with partners across the Health and Social Care System
- Managing external reviews and Regulators
- Contribute to the achievement of the Trusts Operational and Strategic Aims
