Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative and creative professional to engage in developing a clinical service alongside existing posts in specialist palliative care, and other posts in cancer and haematology. The post spans direct outpatient clinical work and indirect clinical work such as training and consultation, with an emphasis on a systems approach to the integration of psychologically informed care for services more broadly across both hospital sites.
The role works collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues to achieve effective, evidence based psychological provision for patients, with close links to oncology services and other key medical disciplines. You will work autonomously within professional guidelines ensuring that services provided are high quality, cost-effective, culturally appropriate and based on best clinical and professional practice, national strategic and policy guidelines.
The post is fixed term and largely based at Gloucester Royal, though at times cross site working at Cheltenham General is needed. The service has strong links with Psycho-oncology services across the region and with local hospices, alongside a supportive and friendly clinical health psychology department with access to CPD.
