About us
Private Patients are an important part of the Trust's activity. Over the last decade, total Trust income from private patient activity has averaged increased by 50% over the last 3 years and last year achieved income of c. £5m per annum. There is a lucrative local market too.
You will work together with the Head of Private & Overseas Patients' Services and the Deputy Chief Operating Officer (Planned Care) to improve the offering further. It is important to maximise the contribution from private work towards financial sustainability and doing so in a way that is transparent, ethical and defensible.
There are many strengths to build on, not least in the dedicated private patient team (responsible for authorisations and billing) who are hardworking, motivated to be the best they can and have embraced changes to date. There is good engagement from clinical services, general managers as well as with the Trusts leadership - who see the potential to improve services significantly (esp. to improve oversight, governance and income). There is also unmet patient demand across a range of specialties with a desire to "do more" from many consultants and their teams.
