Job summary
The Director of Breast Screening has overall accountability for the safe and effective provision of the local breast screening service. This is from the identification of the eligible screening cohort to the point of diagnosis as commissioned by NHS England. The post holder will have overall responsibility for the leadership, management, performance, quality, governance and coordination of the service.
Main duties of the job
Ensuring the highest quality clinical service and achievement to include:
- Meeting national targets eg round-length, technical repeats, screened to assessment
- Clinical harm reviews and complaint response
- Current and future National quality indicators
- Concentrate on major issues and long-term policy.
- Demonstrate awareness of the national and local context: include consideration of the constraints, trust pressures and priorities and the impact of specialty decisions on other services.
- Working with other stakeholders, generate innovative solutions and consensus decision-making that deliver a sensible delivery plan.
