Specialist Dietitian Nutrition Support Team (NST)
We are delighted to be recruiting to a specialist dietitian working within the NST team. We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive Dietitian with experience/qualifications in parenteral nutrition /NST work, to join our well-established Nutrition Support Team.
The role would involve inpatient/outpatient and MDT working with the lead NST Dietitian, Lead Consultant Gastroenterologist, Specialist Nurse, Pharmacist and Consultant in Chemical Pathology. The role is based at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital but will require a presence at Cheltenham General Hospital.
You will lead part of the acute team in conjunction with the Lead Critical Care Joint Team Lead at GRH.
You will also be part of National and Regional Networking Societies

About the job
You will work as part of the multidisciplinary Nutrition Support Team (NST) to ensure that adults who require parenteral nutrition in our acute hospitals receive high quality, safe and effective care. You will take part in NST ward rounds and weekly MDT meetings contributing to the clinical assessment and management of our patients.
The successful applicant will have a complex and challenging caseload, will be confident with excellent interpersonal skills including observation, active listening and verbal communication.
You will work as part of a team and will need to liaise with professionals at all levels, be able to prioritise your workload, be flexible and assertive.
You will be leading a busy, friendly growing team of dietitians in conjunction with the Team Lead of Critical Care. You may have proven leadership experience including managing a team and should be able to demonstrate previous work towards service development and development of protocols and procedures.

- The post holder will work as an autonomous dietetic advanced practitioner, to act as a source of clinical expertise in the areas of artificial nutritional support, to include parenteral nutrition (PN) in GRH. They will work closely with the Band 7 Advanced Practitioner NST team lead based at CGH and the rest of the Nutrition Support Team (NST).
- In conjunction with the Band 7 Advanced Practitioner Dietitian Critical Care they will provide day to day management of the adult acute dietetic team in GRH. Principally the post holder will work within the Nutrition Team, but will still be an integral part of the Nutrition & Dietetic Service and as such will be required to provide cover within the dietetic team. You may be required to provide cross site cover to CGH.
- To be an expert resource for PN, and appropriate routes for enteral nutrition, to include policy/literature development within both the Nutrition and Dietetic Service and GHNHSFT NST service,
- To ensure that the service is evidence based and managed in line with clinical governance requirements.
- To deliver parenteral nutrition education and training alongside the NST Team Lead in a variety of settings and to a range of health professionals, dietitians, students and patients
- To be involved with non-dietetic projects within the GHNHSFT NST service. This will include elements of Quality and Health and safety
