Main duties of the job
This exciting role is responsible for promoting effective infant feeding support to all new parents in the neonatal unit and transitional care, ensuring that breast-feeding is actively promoted.
You will be responsible for promoting effective infant feeding support of all new parents in transitional care and the neonatal unit, ensuring that breast feeding is actively promoted. Ensuring that all new parents receive support and advice on: the importance of breastfeeding, the benefits and impact breastfeeding will have on short- and long-term health and wellbeing for the mother and baby, maximising milk supply by hand expressing and using the breast pump, safe breast milk storage and support with responsive bottle feeding if that is the parental choice or clinically indicated.
Additionally, youwill support the Infant Feeding Team in achieving full UNICEF UK Baby Friendly Initiative accreditation for LNU and re-accreditation for Maternity with a view to a whole service accreditation of the gold award.
