Trauma and Orthopaedic Clerical Assistant & Outpatient Reception, Band 2

The T&O Team at GHNHSFT have an exciting opportunity for a new member of staff to join their team. This is a new admin post to support the trauma Co-ordinators daily Monday -Friday. Trauma & Orthopaedics is a large specialty with 28 Consultant Surgeons who between them operate on emergency (Trauma) and elective (Orthopaedic) patients at Gloucestershire Royal and Cheltenham General Hospitals.

Main duties of the job

- Preparation of patient medical notes for clinic attendances including, tracking and tracing of patient notes for all attendances.

- Provide efficient and courteous reception to all patients.

- Check all demographics and update Trakcare in accordance with Trust policy, taking responsibility for patient confidentiality at all times.

- Inform patients of any delays affecting the smooth running of clinics, direct them to correct waiting area, or to other departments if pre appointment tests are required e.g x-ray.

- Making appropriate follow ups, sending letters, or ensure patient has been correctly added to the follow up pending list.

- Ensure all outcomes are departed.

- Book support service e.g transport, interpreter for appointment.

- Deal with telephone calls professionally and timely.

- Assist supervisor with on-the-job training for new staff

- Complete all training in accordance with trust policy.

- Good working knowledge of trust cancellation/DNA policy.

- Maintain a smart, professional appearance at all times. Keep working area tidy and be familiar with the trust infection control policy.

- Any other duties as required commensurate with the grade.
