Job summary
We are seeking an energetic and experienced operational lead to come and work for us as Director of Operations for the Surgical Division at Gloucestershire Hospitals Foundation Trust.
You will be responsible to operationally deliver qualitative, high performing services across the Division to deliver services which are outstanding. The leadership team are committed to great patient care and are driving forward a range of workstreams to improve the way in which we work.We are looking for someone who as well as leading on operational issues is keen to work collaboratively in transformation and project work. The Director of Operations will report to the Chief of Service for the Surgical Division but experience of team and people management is crucial along with strong leadership skills.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will coordinate and prioritise the effective and efficient delivery of clinical services across the Division and the management of operational business on a day-to-day basis, meeting all necessary standards of safety, quality, and patient access within agreed resources. They will also ensure there is a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in patient pathways and services.
With the Chief of Service provide clear guidance and support to the Division under the direction of the Trust's Chief Operating Officer, within a clear and effective accountability framework, in order Responsible to operationally deliver qualitative, high performing services across the Division to deliver services which are outstanding.

MEASURES OF SUCCESS
The following indicators are measures of success (not exhaustive)
1. Leading a high performing Tri delivering collectively to meet objectives and who have ensured that objectives have been cascaded to senior managers, monitored and delivered against plan.
2. The introduction and implementation of innovative Service solutions which improve patient pathways and as evidenced by an improvement in performance metrics.
3. Evidence of collective delivery and collaboration with colleagues to ensure performance improvement of the Trust as a whole.
4. Delivering Performance standards.
5. Delivering services to budget, delivering financial sustainability and increasing income.
6. Developing operational centres of excellence and improving patient pathways. Evidenced by improved performance standards and staff feedback on the management of the change process.

- Proven previous experience of working at as a Divisional Director or very senior Operational manager, or extensive leadership experience in an equally diverse and complex organisation.

- Proven track record of tactical management and delivery at a senior level in a large, complex, service-focused organisation, including staff management, change management, performance management, and service improvement.
