Job summary

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join the Eighth-floor Respiratory Unit as a Clinical Nurse Educator.

Working within the Respiratory team the successful candidate will assist and support in the enhancement and development of high-quality care within a busy environment. The post holder will be responsible for planning, preparing and facilitating educational teaching, ensuring all mandatory and role related training is up to date, responding to changes in Nursing practices and serve as a role model to promote excellence and safety.

Main duties of the job

As a Respiratory clinical nurse educator, you will work alongside existing members of the team in a leadership role to assist in the enhancement and development of Respiratory services, with a particular focus on the delivery of high-quality care within a busy and acute environment.

You will be responsible for supporting the development of both registered and non-registered professionals within the Respiratory Unit. Experience within an acute Respiratory setting is essential with knowledge of Non-Invasive Ventilation. Applicants must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well a passion for improvement and be committed to the development of team and the delivery of the service. Working as part of the Respiratory team will be fundamental in ensuring the vision and objectives of the service are embedded in practice to provide safe and effective patient care.

You will be responsible for supporting staff in upskilling in line with our new Respiratory Support Unit, providing governance for your education. You will need to be able to work closely with members of the MDT including physiotherapists and medics with the ability to adapt your education to your learner.

The role will require your to be passionate and confident in a teaching role with the ability to deliver this in a both a clinical environment and class room setting.

  • Evidence of ongoing professional development through maintenance of a professional portfolio, registration revalidation & commitment to lifelong learning
  • Recognised Nursing Degree or equivalent including a Recognised Teaching Qualification

  • Post Graduate Teaching Certificate or working towards one
