Job summary
Ward 4A is a surgical ward specialising in the care of the Elective GI patients as well as some of the emergency surgical flow patients from the Emergency Ward and SAU.
We are seeking an enthusiastic Registered nurse with substantial surgical experience to join our team on Ward 4A as a Band 6.The successful candidate will have excellent leadership skills and be motivated to sustain and develop the high standards of nursing care that we deliver.

Main duties of the job
Registered nurse with substantial post-graduation experience in an acute surgical setting.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.Supportive to all Nursing bands and other members of the multidisciplinary team we work closely with.
Up to date supervising/assessing experience, to help support the students/TNA's on our ward and have an understanding of the CLIP model of learning.
Awareness of audits, managing safe care, Datix, and health roster.To assist in managing the ward in the absence of the ward manager.

To manage a caseload of patients within the clinical area.
To take charge of the daily running of the ward, co-ordinating the staff on duty keeping capacity and flow within the ward.
Carrying out audits, supporting the ward manager to achieve targets set by the trust.
To communicate effectively all members of the ward and multidisciplinary teams.
Demonstrate ability to assess patient condition and implement and evaluate appropriate care within the multidisciplinary team.
Ability to disseminate contentious and delicate information appropriately.
To deliver safe care within a challenging and changing clinical environment, using equipment and resources safely. Supporting junior members to develop their skills and experience to take charge of the team/ward.
To adhere to trust guidelines, policies and procedures when at work.
Adhere to and demonstrate an awareness of the professional code of conduct.
Participate in assessing/supervising updates in order to support students and other members of our team.
To keep Trakcare, EPR and Safe care up to date leading the team to maintain the targets set by the trust.
