Job summary

You will be based within the Data Quality Team, part of the Business Intelligence Department, and will work closely with all services and staff, to assist with the design and delivery of our new Data Quality Strategy. This exciting position offers an opportunity for the right individual to make a real difference to our vision of "Best Care for Everyone" by helping to achieve good data quality in order to make informed business decisions and to help improve patient care.

Main duties of the job

To support the Trust's Data Quality Lead and Data Quality Manager in order to deliver continued improvement in the quality of data and information within the Trust. This will cover a wide variety of aspects including, but not limited to, the use of the front-end Information Systems by operational staff, technical improvements to these systems, improvements to the data processing and supporting delivery of complete, timely and accurate data in the Trust's back-end Data Warehouse.

To support any Data Quality issues and help to deliver a resilient Data Quality strategy.

To help identify any Data Quality issues in order to understand the problem and come up with solutions that work not just for clinical purposes but to ensure that the Service are able to be reported and billed correctly.

To help provide knowledge of Data Quality issues in order to ensure the data that is provided internally and externally is complete, timely and accurate. To help provide technical expertise in the capture of data within the Trusts Information Systems, including developing and refining standard operating procedures, reviewing operational system processes by users to enhance Data Quality. To have good analytical skills or a background in NHS Operations to provide support and expertise to the Data Quality Lead, Data Quality Manager and the Business Intelligence team in relation to data quality issues.

  • Relevant Bachelor Degree or equivalent educational level

Experience

  • Ability to present complex information with a high level of accuracy to a wide range of audiences both verbally and electronically (e.g. charts graphs, reports, scorecards, tables, dashboards etc.)
  • An understanding of the importance of data quality and have an understanding of methods used to investigate data quality

Desirable

  • An understanding of the NHS Data Dictionary including datasets and data standards
  • Understanding of patient pathways

Knowledge/ Skills

Essential

  • Good SQL skills - interrogate and analyse healthcare data using SQL
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office products in particular Excel
