Job summary

Orthotics Clerk (Permanent position, 24 hours a week)

We are looking for an Orthotics Clerk who will be responsible for booking, cancelling or changing appointments for patients on Trak. Ensuring clinics are fully utilised. Compiling and sending letters informing patients who have been recently referred to the Orthotic department. Ensuring patients are booked within clinical and Trust waiting time targets and that Patient access policies and procedures and booking rules are adhered to.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for preparing Orthotic records for new patient referrals and to prepare patient notes for daily Orthotic clinics. To greet patients arriving for appointments or collecting supplies. Record clinic outcomes on Trac. Provide support to the Orthotist with general administration duties. Share responsibility for the procurement of goods for the Orthotic service, using P2P to order, code, receipt and process invoices. Promptly process orders for orthoses and receipt goods arriving in the department. Be responsible for receiving, labelling, packaging and sending goods from patients for repairs/alterations. Arranging patient collection or delivery to community hospitals, GP surgeries as required.

Use of Visual Display Unit (VDU) on a daily basis

Visits to various locations throughout the hospital site.

Being available on a daily basis to talk with staff about sensitive and confidential matters usually without any notice.

Constant interruptions from telephone enquiries, unplanned visits from Trust staff, emails etc which affect the flow of concentration. Priorities often change during the day and there is a need to be very flexible in order to change direction throughout the day.

The post holder is required to use their own initiative to analyse, make decisions and implement, monitor and evaluate effectiveness of the areas they manage to ensure the best outcomes for excellent service delivery.An autonomous working condition - Line Manager is available for advice and support and will supervise the work being carried out.

Deal with aggressive verbal and written communications from people within the Trust.
