Job summary
We are looking for a pro-active, motivated individual who enjoys working in a busy admin environment to support the Trust in delivering Cancer Wait Times targets. This exciting role will focus on expediting pathology results for patients on a suspected cancer pathway. Duties will include liaising with Pathology colleagues and specialties to proactively track and accurately record the patient's progress through the suspected cancer pathway and expedite where appropriate to support the patient
Applicants must have excellent communication, a good working knowledge of MS software, data collection skills and be flexible in their approach. Candidates should also be team players and possess sound, interpersonal and organisational skills
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work alongside pathology colleagues and the Cancer Services team, ensuring all pathology cases from patients on a cancer pathway are processed and reported in a timely manner. This role aims to quickly and efficiently support cancer patients in receiving a diagnosis and treatment
The post holder will be working in a varied role that includes; patient support, tracking, organisation and administration. There will be an emphasis on efficiency, detail, innovation and developing new ways of working.

As a pathology tracker, you would have the benefit of working closely with a number of teams within Cancer Services and across the hospital

The post holder will work alongside pathology colleagues ensuring all cases from patients on a cancer pathway are processed and reported in a timely manner.
Responsibilities include :
- To provide specialties and cancer services a focal point for individual escalations
- Working from patient tracking/work lists, input data into Infoflex as appropriate, in order to ensure individual patient records are updated in a timely and accurate manner.
- Liaise with pathology staff to ensure all cases are processed through the laboratory in a timely manner, as well as allocated/re-allocated to a pathologist for reporting as appropriate
- Pro-actively update Service, Cancer Manager and pathology operational colleagues regarding the progress of individual patients, escalating issues and delays in the patients pathway quickly and proactively.
- Maintain close communication with the MDT co-ordinators and MDT Pathology colleagues to ensure cases are available for MDT discussion
- Liaise with pathology teams informing them of any likely rises in demand through analysis of cancer services reports available on Insight.
- Provide administrative support for Pathology for cancer related cases
