Full time permanent position, 37.5 hours per week based in Little Apples Day Nursery, Cheltenham. Working shifts between 7am - 6pm.

Main duties of the job
- Meeting the diverse needs of children aged 3 months to 5 years.
- To manage time effectively to complete additional duties such as planning and completing developmental records.
- Meeting the needs of the parents/guardians acting professionally, compassionately and consistently in day to day and sensitive situations
Our Nurseries
The Gloucestershire Hospitals Nurseries began operating over 30 years ago and are located in Gloucester and Cheltenham. The nurseries offer full day care for 52 weeks per year, from 7.00am to 6.00pm, Monday to Friday for children up until the age of 5.
We employ a high calibre of staff, ranging from Nursery Trainees to Degree Level practitioners. In general, the nurseries have a low staff turnover and the retention of highly skilled and motivated staff is paramount.
We provide the very highest levels of care for the children of our staff members while they are busy keeping our essential hospital services functioning effectively. We're committed to providing a safe, caring and stimulating environment for children and prioritising positive play experiences.

Job responsibilities
- To ensure the requirements of Early Years Foundation stage and all other regulatory bodies are met at all times.
- To adhere to the nursery Policies and bring to the attention of the Manager any ineffective practice.
-To actively promote good working practice and hold a high regard for the delivery of quality, flexible childcare ensuring that the nursery provides a safe, hygienic, caring and stimulating environment for children and parents, promoting positive play experiences at all times.
- To work as part of a team and support/guide Nursery Assistants and Students ensuring that they are encouraged to reach maximum potential.
- Actively promote diversity both in relation to childcare provision generally and in the nurseries, ensuring that a culturally sensitive environment is maintained.
- To ensure maximum use of available resources to support the nursery achieve a break even basis at the end of each financial year.
- Considerable flexibility is required to meet the changing needs of the children.
- To be a key holder and when required open or close the nursery.
- At the discretion or in the absence of the Management team be responsible for administering prescribed medication or childrens paracetamol.
Personal specification
- Hold a level 3 or equivalent in childcare
- First Aid for people who work with young children
- Safe Guarding and Basic food hygiene training
- To have knowledge and understanding of Early Years Foundation stage.
- To have understanding of observation, assessment and planning and able to complete learning journeys and development paper work
- Excellent interpersonal skills and effective time management skills
- Ability to communicate, engage childrens interest and facilitate their learning through fun play activities
- Conscientious and consistent and to be able to prioritise
- Motivated and enthusiastic and to be able to act calm under pressure
