Job summary

Make a move to our paediatric unit to make a difference using your clinical knowledge to enhance the experience of children, young people and families. Here at Gloucester, we pride ourselves on listening, where your voice will be heard, your knowledge, skills and experience are valued and we celebrate your contributions within the Team. We provide a 5 weeks induction period delivered by our paediatric professional development team. We offer funded places on a variety of continuing professional development courses from oncology to paediatric critical care. Newly registered nurses are supported through the trust preceptorship programme which is accredited to master level.

Main duties of the job

As a paediatric staff nurse you will be expected to deliver compassionate, safe, high quality, care for children of all ages within our large unit. We cover specialist inpatient services such as paediatric oncology, paediatric critical care level 2, paediatric surgery and a paediatric assessment unit as well as an extensive children's outpatient service.

You should be enthusiastic, motivated with good interpersonal skills and able to problem solve and prioritise during periods of pressure.

In collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, you will be required to deliver and supervise patient care for the clinical area; ensuring assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of a high standard of care.

Working in conjunction with the team to deliver safe patient and family centred care within a challenging and changing clinical environment.

The Children's Centre is a purpose-built, modern unit which has recently been rated as 'Good' by the Care Quality Commission. The Centre offers a unique environment for nursing professionals to develop their paediatric experience across a range of areas: Inpatients, Paediatric Assessment Unit, High Dependency unit, Day unit, oncology shared care services and outpatients. We also provide a increasing Paediatric specialist nursing team within our community to ensure children can remain at home with additional support from our teams.
