We are pleased to advertise 2 roles for the post of Clinical Lead for Imaging at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. One Clinical Lead for Diagnostic Imaging, one Clinical Lead for Interventional Radiology
The Clinical Lead provides clinical, operational and strategic leadership within the senior Imaging team and alongside the second Clinical Lead and Triumvirate of Diagnostics & Specialties.

Main duties of the job
The Clinical Lead is responsible for:
- Leading the speciality with the Professional lead, and General Manager to deliver income targets within devolved budget/s for the service lines within his/her remit including working with the General Manager on FSP plans.
- Line managing the medical staff within the service line. (Job Planning, Performance Management). It is expected that job planning will be done in discussion with the General Manager
- Ensuring the service is able to deliver on KPIs such as DM01, RTT, 2ww etc. with careful job planning and early escalation of staffing issues
- Establishing and maintaining inclusive and effective working relationships across clinical and professional boundaries to widen participation in decision-making, target setting, workforce and job planning
- Appraisal and revalidation processes for senior medical colleagues.
- Maintaining a culture of integrity, patient-centredness, openness, and aspiration within speciality
- The delivery of clinical services within the Trust's financial, workforce, operational targets and strategic objectives and accountable for overseeing clinical governance and quality.

- Analyse and where appropriate gather performance data including activity data, staff survey results, patient complaints etc.
- Maintains constant awareness of the departmental RTT Time to exam, and time to report and assists the General manager and Professional lead in ensuring the timeline is as efficient as possible
- Assist the Professional Lead and General manager in devising a strategy and plan for the speciality, and ensuring the medical staff within the department are engaged in this
- Engage the team in service improvement decisions and processes, fostering a culture of continuous innovation and improvement.
- Being open to challenge the way things are done, where necessary to ensure the service is effective and efficient
- Encourage others to improve services and recognise and reward innovation and improvement.
- Empower all staff groups within the speciality to speak up, and develop ideas for improvement.
- Anticipate the impact of other divisional or organisational changes that will affect the delivery of the services the Clinical Lead represents.
- Actively focus on achieving results, ensuring service delivery that is safe, up-to-date and meets current Trust objectives and targets.
- Manage staffing and clinical resources effectively, escalating gaps and issues which cannot be rectified with rota amendments to General Manager and Chief of Service as appropriate.
- Take appropriate action to rectify performance problems as they arise.
- Escalate issues where appropriate to the Chief or service, General Manager, and Professional Lead.
- Provide clinical input into complaints and FOI requests.
- Act as an advocate for all staff groups, ensuring unprofessional behaviour is not tolerated, and that all staff groups feel supported to escalate concerns to the speciality senior management team
- Act on feedback from patients and staff to ensure the speciality remains safe and effective
- Chair the consultant meeting
- Maintain awareness of and where appropriate action plans for known issues within the speciality
- Attend weekly management meetings with the speciality senior management team
- Share spokesperson duty for Divisional Board and Service line meetings with General Manager and Professional lead as appropriate
- Be an effective and active representative for the speciality and trust in regional and national network as appropriate
- Input into development of speciality policies and SOPs
