Job summary
We have a new opportunity for an experienced dietitian to join the Acute Dietetics Team in Cheltenham General hospital as a Stroke Specialist. This is an established role where you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing nutritional support to patients on the stroke unit and support them through their inpatient stay. In this role you are able to have a positive impact on patients and their family and help them navigate the difficulties with meeting nutritional needs after a stroke.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide dietetics care to patients on our hyper Acute Stroke Unit and Stroke Rehab wards. You will require experience working on acute medical wads, enteral tube feeding and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills including in observation and active listening. You will work closely with the Stoke MDT, as well as needing to work as part of a team and liaise with professionals at all levels. The successful candidate will need to be self-motivated and flexible to prioritise their own workload and be assertive in their time management.
The role provides opportunities to develop dietetic skills in a specialist area, working with an experienced and dynamic team of Acute dietitians. We encourage and support audit, research and contribution to service development within the dietetic department and Acute services. You would also be involved in supervising staff and students. Some travel may be required.

- Experience of working within the NHS and knowledge of assessing those with complex medical problems in areas of acute and stroke care and enteral tube feeding
- Demonstrate specialist clinical knowledge in decision making in enteral feeding
- Demonstrate a willingness to be flexible
- Experience of effectively maintaining working relationship within a team
- Demonstrate Prioritising workloads
