An exciting opportunity has arisen for an organised, enthusiastic individual with excellent communication skills to join our friendly team in Head & Neck Services.
We are looking for someone who desires a challenge and is motivated when it comes to identifying and implementing processes that will implement positive change.
This role will suit a person who can work in a team and also on their own initiative. It would be essential to have previous supervisory/management experience within a hospital environment.
You will provide support to our General Manager/Deputy General Manager and work closely with consultants, theatre staff, pre operative assessment teams, ward staff, Admin Teams, central booking office staff, diagnostic teams and other clinical staff. The successful candidate will be an invaluable member of the team.
Main duties of the job
- To manage a nominated team of admin & clerical staff
- Oversee Appraisals and Mandatory Training, ensuring timely compliance with Trust targets
- Provide leadership and support to the nominated team, ensuring proactive management of RTT & Cancer waiting times - monitoring of PTLs, highlighting concerns or issues to the General Manager
- Monitoring of Theatre utilisation
- Monitoring of Clinic utilisation; setting up clinics as required - liaising closely with Central Booking Office and Trak Management teams as required
- Support the General Manager, Deputy General Manager with the management of medical leave, adhering to local policy; management of timetables and on-call rotas
- To highlight bottlenecks within the service, communicating regularly with the General Manager, and where possible, suggesting and implementing solutions
- To work with the General Manager and clinical teams to support service improvement initiatives which help streamline processes and improve the quality of care and service provision - take the lead for various projects as required by the General Manager
- Monitor performance and sickness absence and take appropriate action when necessary
- The post holder must at all times respect patient confidentiality in line with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and abide by all Statutory and Trust policies and procedures
- The post holder must complete Mandatory Training courses and participate in regular staff Appraisals

- Extensive and demonstrable knowledge and experience of the full range of administrative systems, software programmes to include all Microsoft applications (word, excel, access, email)
- Health and Social Care Management Certificate, BTEC Management qualification or equivalent work experience
- Educated to GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent)
