GLOUCESTERSHIRE HOSPITALS NHS FOUNDATION TRUST Clinical Lead in Vascular Surgery

The Clinical Lead roles exist to assist the Specialty Director and Triumvirate in leading the cross-county strategic development and operational delivery of their specialty. The post holders will be responsible for leading the delivery of clinical services and within the Trust's financial, workforce, operational targets and strategic objectives. Specifically this will involve delivery of a Hybrid Theatre and Specialist Vascular ward in Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.Furthermore the Clinical Lead will be expected to ensure the delivery of a robust high quality and equitable service across all three hospitals within the Vascular Network (Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, Cheltenham General Hospital and Great Western Hospital). These are defined in the Service Level Agreement for the Network and supported by universal Key performance indicators defined within this document.

Furthermore the Clinical Lead will be expected to ensure the delivery of a robust high quality and equitable service across all three hospitals within the Vascular Network (Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, Cheltenham General Hospital and Great Western Hospital). These are defined in the Service Level Agreement for the Network and supported by universal Key performance indicators defined within this document.

Main duties of the job

The post holders will be responsible for:

Ensuring the highest quality clinical service and achievement to include: Meeting national targets e.g. 2ww, 28 day, 62 day

Clinical harm reviews

Current and future National quality indicators e.g . PAD-QIF, National Stroke Strategy, NAAASP pathway

They will also be responsible for:

Developing 1, 3 and 5 year strategy plans with the Tri Work force planning

Supporting the Governance/audit lead

Provide clinical input to our commissioners for pathway development, quality control and referral patterns

Interface with the Trust's procurement, audit and management departments Support job planning process

Organise and attend business performance meetings for their Specialty Support governance/audit leads in their rolesActing as the service line representative when the Specialty Director is on leave or unavailable Contributing to external reviews and Regulators

  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCT)/ Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) ot within 6 months of CCT
  • FRCS (Gen Surg or Vasc)
  • Full GMC Registration with a licence to practise

Desirable

  • Higher degree in a relevent subject

  • Ability to offer a comprehensive on-call service for emergencies and to deal with most general elective vascular/ renal access surgery

Skills & Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Vascular and allied specialties commensurate with completion of training
  • Competence and self-reloance inoperative Vascular Surgery and well developed diagnostic skills
  • raining and experience in endovascular procedures to treat peripheral arterial disease, aneurysmal disease and superficial venous disease
  • Training and experience in renal access surgery
