Job summary
Permanent position, 37.5 hours a week
(7.5 hrs/day. Normal shifts hours between 8-6pm but can be between 8-8 depending on service requirement)
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual to work in the Radiotherapy department to provide an efficient, high quality, safe service for our patients by carrying out support tasks for the Radiographers. This requires a team player to work as part of the larger Radiotherapy department but also someone who is able to use initiative and prioritise their own workload. The department delivers a very high standard of patient care, so we are looking for an individual who is caring, thoughtful, compassionate and conscientious.
The role is varied, both clinical and administrative. The department encourages staff to develop, allowing the post holder to expand their area of expertise. Based in the Oncology Centre at Cheltenham General Hospital, the role involves working alongside Clinical Oncologists, Radiographers and Physicists, providing treatment to patients in a compassionate and professional environment.
Main duties of the job
Demonstrate excellent patient care skills. Undertake clinic prep duties. Communicate with patients, carers, relatives and all members of the multidisciplinary team. Maintain and develop high standards of care. Behave professionally and be a role model. Work proactively. Well organised. Act on initiative. Ability to problem solve. Look to develop skills and experience.
Good team skills and experience working with others. Motivated and enthusiastic. Varied day to day tasks with a mix of admin and clinical. Basic competence in I.T e.g. Microsoft Word. Good Keyboard Skills. Phlebotomy skills (desirable but training can be given). Good telephone manner. Previous customer service or care experience (preferred). Admin experience (preferred). Ability to prioritise workload.
